Vanessa Mae has of course been featured on Asian Sirens before, here and here as far back as 2005 by Robin Hood, who covered her background extensively and provided many useful links…
Now 35, Vanessa has been in the news for reasons other than her obvious sexy looks and musical ability. A woman of many talents, Vanessa accomplished her dream of competing in an Olympics at the Sochi 2014 winter games. Vanessa has skied since she was four years old and under some different qualifying rules was able to represent the country of her birth father, Thailand, under the name Vanessa Vanakorn (her father’s name). While she finished last (some 50 seconds behind the gold medalist on the combined runs), it is a great effort just having the nerve to attempt the course IMO.
In other news it seems Vanessa stirred up some controversy by performing for Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov’s birthday celebrations in October 2011. Perhaps a questionable decision for someone who was listed as one of Britain’s wealthiest performers under 30 a few years ago. Backlash from human rights groups seems to have led her to keeping a slightly lower profile, combined with ski training I imagine.
Either way it is hard to knock her credentials as an Asian Siren and she looks great, let alone for a lady of 35. Here’s looking forward to the next entry on Vanessa in years to come…

I am sure many think my analysis is wrong with many women pictured on this site, but a Siren has to be at the very top with little room for a fault, IMHO. Some might very well make the jump, but not without supporting evidence.

@LoveAsianWomen: Your analysis is not “wrong”….it is simply your opinion. What I cannot understand is how/why you:
1) Leave discussion out and give a simple YES/NO on her Siren “status”. You have FAR more to offer here than a simple yes/no.
2) Why limit your criteria to just 6 parts? What about her philtrum?
Her nose?3) Why limit yourself to only physical attributes? You can actually have a conversation with this gal.
4) Why not talk about her photographs or video? Did the photographer do her justice? Too much photoshop? Too much make-up? Bad poses, etc….
Vanessa here may not have the nicest arse, but really, how many women we see here that have competed in the Olympics AND are applauded around the world for their musical talents. The great Doc mentioned her version of the Four Seasons in another post (on the old site) and I had to pull it up. A masterpiece!
My issue with her is that for $500,000 USD, she performed for a dictator….and yeah, she should know better….I’ve been to enough hell holes that it breaks my heart to see people live their whole lives and will never hit their potential because of some thug. To each their own….

It caught my attention too performing in Chechnya. I guess we all have our price, I would like to hear her side of the story but I imagine not too much consideration went into the decision beyond $$$.I do however think that Vanessa would be someone that would be fantastic to have at a dinner party. She must have a lot of great stories and is incredibly hot IMO. I think that personality is a major part of what makes these girls attractive although I guess it is speculation on a large part, I like to think that Vanessa’s personality would set her above many of the girls we feature.

I will always think of Vanessa as a British gal. Extremely talented and always up for a challenge, besides being pretty and Asian. Lots of stories and rumours abound about the behind the scenes wrangling s and appearing for a leader with a question mark over human rights abuses. I think it’s best to take people on face value. In which case, here is a girl that loves to play music, play sports, likes a challenge and gets paid for it. Maybe someone should invite her to play more often (preferably with a clean human rights record), but I certainly won’t be blaming the girl for wanting to play her violin. Also, Turandot (good choice).
Lastly, It does get a bit annoying all this point scoring (is her ass Siren?) cobblers. These girls are real people here and although we can’t be attracted to all of them, I’m fairly sure there is more to them than their asses (although there is nothing wrong with a nice ass and no one is going to stop me looking and appreciating one when I see it).

I must agree with the criticism of LoveAsianWomen’s recent comments—as I’ve already said, they suggest a degree of objectivity and authority that simply doesn’t exist, and they play right into the “objectification of women” criticisms often levelled at sites like this. Although they aren’t strictly in breach of our guidelines, I think everyone would appreciate it if LAW would desist from making these pointless comments, and say something more meaningful.

She is an incredible woman. She has done so much with her life. She is also quite beautiful and I love her smile. If only she were a Russian athlete we would have many more revealing pics and maybe even a calendar.

Basho and Master Luke: And yes, I should have stated that I would like to hear her side of the story, if she was willing. As I go through life I try to let a lot of things slide (Fight Club reference)….but I still have these “buttons” that when pushed, call me to action.
The great American President (also a Francophile and free thinker) Thomas Jefferson lived by the maxim: “for I have sworn upon the altar of god eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man.” People should be free to do their own thing and live their life as they see fit. When dictators throw themselves a party, it bothers me- especially when “free” people are the entertainment.

Not my kind of woman, to much high cheekbone and harsh chin in the face to meet my look standard there.
The only thing I don’t like about LoveAsianWomen’s analysis is that he doesn’t understand what the world Asian means. He is critical over a woman not looking Asian…..Asia is a continent of 4.3 billion people, ranging from Caucasians to orientals and even much darker skinned peoples. To say someone doesn’t look Asian doesn’t make sense.

My love of Vanessa Mae is well documented, so I won’t gush about her any more. However, I will say that I was hoping that since she is a celebrity, at least in some areas of the world, she would get some coverage in the Olympics. In the US coverage at least, she wasn’t mentioned beyond the opening ceremony from what I saw.

She certainly qualifies as an Asian Siren in my book, even though she may not be my favorite in that category.
And while I hate to pile on and beat this already dead horse, I will say this: I have tended, over time, to share the same overall opinion of most of the women posted here as LoveAsianWomen. But I find his posts far less interesting than before he started using this scale.

I think the criticisms of LoveAsian were too harsh. I personally try to comment only when I can add something to the discussion or bring a perspective, so I might not approach it his way. I guess I just don’t like to see a brother Asian fan browbeaten.

If it was her dream, good for her!Unfortunately, Winter Olympics don’t provide us enough reasons to watch pics from pretty asians . Summer Olympics, please.

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, if she’s picks up side money playing gigs for dictators. That she raced (given her skills) was preposterous from the start, and this confirms that judgment. It’s amusing how transparent the qualifying “race” was, according to the story: it was set up at the request of her manager no less.

Well it seems she’s been guilty of some rather poor judgement here, perhaps partly as a result of a career on the wane (why has it been so long since she released a new album?). But I’d like to go out on a more positive note: not only is her version of the Four Seasons my all-time favourite, but having seen her live, I can honestly say that she’s the most engaging performer I’ve ever seen. Of course she’s a great player, but she’s also highly entertaining, with a very bubbly, outgoing personality (at least on stage), plus she shines with intelligence and is very cosmopolitan, with a healthy dose of naughtiness and wildness too. Which I guess makes her recent missteps all the more disappointing.
