John Smith suggested we take a look at the political advertisement above, which features the lovely Lisa Chan.
Pete Hoekstra, the former United States House of Representatives member made the ill-fated commercial in his campaign against Democratic incumbent Debbie Stabenow for the United States Senate in 2012 (I hope this is all correct as US politics is not something I am overly familiar with).
To say the commercial was a flop is an understatement—it ruffled a lot of feathers with its racially insensitive message and raised money for his rival with the community backlash.
Lisa Chan, a U.C.Berkeley grad/actress, apologised for her lack of judgement and hopefully has now moved on. Hoekstra? Well he lost the election and to the best of my knowledge has faded from the scene. His publicist? He may very well be exploring a different career. It is heartening to see the community react to racism in this manner. You can go here to see some more pics of Lisa.
Sorry for the delay Mr Smith, I didn’t understand this when it was first lodged as I just got the link to a small thumbnail.
