While I’m not much of a fan of manufactured pop music, there was something about Korean act KARA that piqued my curiosity when I first Googled them on Travis’ advice…

The band is a product of DSP Media, put together in 2007 and consisting of Nicole Jung, Park Gyuri, Han Seungyeon, Goo Hara and Kang Jiyoung. Among many hit singles, 2009′s Mister (featuring the “butt dance”) saw their popularity throughout Asia take off, especially in the Korean and Japanese markets. Too good to be true? Well it seems things are in for a shake up, with Nicole recently leaving the band and Jiyoung to follow soon after.

Though normally a dog person, I would adopt a Kara cat.

While I wouldn’t call their music, well “music”, I have to agree with LoveAsianWomen on this one. Every one a winner in my book.

They have been decent competition for SNSD, but not really in the same class, and with the breakup of the band all their careers will be over with.

Beautiful. All of them. But I watch MNET & other Asian channels with sound off. Generally Korean singers can really sing, but I am not sold on 5, 6 or 7 girl groups. Japanese are even worse. One piece of Korean eye-candy sings a line, then camera cuts to another piece of eye-candy singing another line, and on, and on…boring.

I have to agree that the repetitiveness of the K-pop videos makes them very boring to watch over time, regardless of how pretty the girls are.
