Q: If you could give a little piece of advice for new or aspiring models what would it be?
I’m not sure if people want to hear this, but this is the only real advice that I have. For every Kate Moss or Michelle Bunchen, there are thousands and thousands who failed. Unless you’ve made it as a celebrity model, keep your options open and develop your other talents. Don’t drop out of school. When you’re with makeup artists, take advantage of the opportunity to learn makeup. When you meet important and accomplished people, observe them and see what sets them apart from the rest. Modeling can be a great learning experience if you are open to learning. We go to so many castings and get turned down. Strangely, that experience really builds self-esteem because you get used to being rejected, and you learn how to not take it personally. What I’m trying to say is that modeling is a great experience, but keep your feet on the ground. Don’t just do modeling – it’s not going to be a very long career.
