More Pretty Pitchers

With professional baseball everywhere approaching the playoffs, here’s a look at some recent (and viral) first pitches thrown by some lovely ladies chosen to do the honors at MLB (United States), KBO (Korea), and NBO (Japan) games.

Above is actress and taekwondo black belt-holder, Tae Mi, showing off her skills at Seoul’s Jamsil Stadium last month, in what appears to be an attempt to top rhythmic gymnist Shin Soo-ji’s first pitch she threw there a few weeks earlier.

An obvious Doosan Bears fan clad in skin-tight pinstripes, Korean actress Clara Lee displays a good form to open a Bears-LG Twins game last May.

Here are two different angles of Girls Generation’s Tiffany Hwang throwing her terrible turf-hitting toss at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium last May to open the Dogers-Arizona Diamondbacks game.

Olivia Munn (featured at the old site here) opening up a game at Dodger Stadium last June.

Gravure idol Mitsu Dan stripped down to a swimsuit before her toss last month to give the crowd at the Tokyo Yakult Swallows-Yokohama Dena Baystars game something to remember.

And just in case anyone missed it, here’s Shin Soo-ji’s beautiful delivery last July to open the Doosan Bears-Samsung Lions game at Jamsil Stadium. She’s still got my vote for best delivery style.

Park Jung-ah

While Miss Shin gets top honors from me for style points, the best arm I’ve ever seen on any female entertainer throwing out a first pitch in any league, belongs to Korean singer Park Jung-ah (as I’ve mentioned before). In the above photo of her delivering one to open the SK Wyverns’ 2007 season at Incheon’s Munhak Baseball Stadium, it appears that the players and coaching staff are also impressed with her pitching arm. It’s probably one of the reasons Miss Park has been asked to do the honors at several KBO games. No video of the above, but below is her from 2004, hurling one across the plate like it’s routine.

They do first pitches *so* much better than we do here.

Wow, I just saw this movie from 1992 called Mr. Baseball with some hot Japanese actress in it.

Asian women and baseball is a good thing.

    French,

Aya Takanashi. After Mr. Baseball, she never again appeared in a Hollywood film and only had a few small roles in Japan, her last being in 1999. She now resides in the “Whatever Happened to..” file.

    Olivia Munn. Beautiful. Funny. Perfect.

I would gladly take a baseball to the face from one of these beauties any day. Not Really…but they’re still hot as you know what.

    CEC,

It is a shame she stopped doing movies- she was stunning.

But back to Clara Lee’s video above- that pose she made before the throw would make an excellent trophy!

Enjoyed this post. The two girls with acrobatic pitching motions were great to see. Never seen that before. I like the second girl shaking the catcher off. Clearly, she wanted to bring the heat and announce her presence with authority.

That’s from a great baseball movie. No asians in it, though.

I like the bad ones best, it is quite a long walk of shame afterwards. Funny stuff.

    Luke,

Then, if you haven’t already seen it, you’ll love watching the grounder Carly Rae Jepsen threw last July in Tampa Bay. It was even worse than Tiffany’s.

    baseball confuses me… i never understood anything…

@gunnar: Everything you need to learn about baseball….from George Carlin.

Agreed CEC. Carly’s pitch not only went closer to first base than home plate, but she pretty much spiked the ball into the ground since she forgot to release it.
