Amali Ward first came into public view way back on season two of Australian Idol in 2004. At just 16 she made the top ten, and while not the most gifted singer, with a mouth built for belting out the big notes, Amali was definitely the most gifted in looks.
Born in Hobart, Australia to English and Sri Lankan parents, Amali moved to Sydney to further her career. She has done a bit of modelling, including a stint as the face of Rexona Girl, and has also worked on TV shows Channel V, Nerds FC and Save Point. But music is her passion, and 2013 has seen the release of her debut album Back in Time, which has already had some success: firstly, with Amali winning the 2011 John Lennon Songwriting Contest in the R&B category with her single Knock You Out, then in March this year the APRA Stephen Schwartz Songwriting Award. She supported Seal on tour, played at the Byron Bay blues festival, has toured the east coast of Australia and I’m sure has much more planned with the album promotion.

If Amali is any indication of what Sri Lankan women look like – I need to add Sri Lanka to the bucket list.

Sri Lanken and English…. interesting combination. Hmmmmm… Should be more of it….. but less clothing and definitely less singing…
