Masumi Tachibana is “a suggested blast from the past” by Romanticwarrior. As she is also one of my all-time favourites, I felt compelled to fulfil his request.

Since re-launching Asian Sirens in its present form nearly a year ago, a few minor, niggling issues have remained. Well actually, one of these wasn’t so minor for mobile users: the inability to post comments. Unfortunately, all the WordPress mobile themes I knew of were seriously buggy in one way or another, so I’ve spent many months chasing up the developers of the various plug-ins I tried to get them fixed, but with virtually no success. But then I finally found one that actually works properly, so now mobile users can finally post comments! 2014/07/21 Update: Since this post, I’ve been working on a customised version of WordPress’ Minileven mobile theme, which finally gives mobile users feature parity with desktop users!

I’ve also made some changes to better accommodate how you are using the site: people were constantly getting the submit post and suggest post pages mixed up, so I’ve merged them (and culled the fulfilled requests in the process). Conversely, I’ve added an Already Identified page to the Request ID page, to make it easier to keep track of who has been identified and who hasn’t. And finally, I’ve added a Member Image Uploads page, to make it easier to keep track of all the images members have uploaded to their profiles (their images will only appear here if they’ve allowed comments on them though).

In my ongoing series of occasional articles on the models from Sexy Mandarin, I present another one of their more active teachers, Vanessa Tuan. A model since she was 13, she’s also worked as a promoter, tutor, hostess and receptionist, and plays basketball, snooker and wakeboarding—plus piano as well! Like fellow SM girl Wendy, she also has several Facebook profiles (if only I knew why). Whatever the case, it certainly seems as though she likes to keep herself busy.

I first featured Sexy Mandarin shortly after they launched their web site one and a half years ago. Since then, they’ve been steadily churning out more videos, and have now built up quite a roster of models, who we’ll be posting in coming months. I’ve already featured their very sexy creator, but for this post, I’d like to introduce their most socially active teacher, “Wonderful” Wendy Zhao. And I do mean active—she has multiple modelling profiles, three Facebook profiles(!), and is one of the first models to upload an Asian Sirens profile (with photo album), as well as the first SM girl to do so. Note to any models reading this: I’ll be giving priority to models who upload AS profiles (I will post a feature article on the fabulous Josie Lee soon).

I reckon we’re long overdue for some beauty from Vietnam (I know we’ve had a lot of westernised Viet girls lately, but they aren’t the same). So here’s Miss Vietnam International 2011, Ngọc Trinh—note that Ngọc must be pronounced very carefully, or you’ll be calling her stupid (ngốc)! I know what many of you are thinking: “yeah, she’s beautiful, but I wish I could see her naked”. Well as it turns out, you can—well, topless anyway. A Vietnamese beauty queen with topless pics? She denies it of course, but check out the topless pics after the jump and decide for yourself. Given the archaic attitudes of the Vietnamese beauty and entertainment industries, I can hardly blame her for this—and fortunately it seems they’ve turned a blind eye to it, as she has retained her title, and is still one of the most popular models in Vietnam.

I know many of you are itching to see some nudity, but unfortunately it seems that very few new models are going beyond ‘implied nudity’ these days (something that will be the subject of a future Discussion post). But porn stars and their Japanese counterparts, JAV idols, still have to take their clothes off of course, so here’s one of the latter for you—the only problem was finding pics that were tasteful enough for our site! Introducing Lina Aishima: although presumably Japanese, she has a bit of an islander look to her (update: turns out she’s part Filipina! See this comment).

Regular Asian Sirens readers will probably have noticed that I’ve been unusually quiet in the comments of late. That’s because I’ve been working day and night on a massive upgrade to the site, which I felt was long overdue. Initially, I just wanted to get it on more up-to-date software (the CMS ThaNirz launched our blog on eight years ago was abandoned even then), but as I came to grips with the upgrade, I really thought through the way both our readers and content producers interact with us. The result is a complete overhaul of the site, to capitalise on the strengths it already had, and address its weaknesses in the wake of the social web revolution.

This is Joy Leng from Singapore. Although her modelling profile hasn’t been updated since December 2011, her Facebook page is still very active, and absolutely packed with photos. Also, as a dancer, dance instructor (mostly pole and exotic apparently), lifestyle coach (whatever that actually is), founder of Sensual Joy (not sure what that is either), events organiser and blogger with her own dance and photo studio—and even her own line of clothing—she certainly seems to keep herself busy! Oh, and she’s very MILFy too—check out the photos after the jump to see for yourself.

This is the first post in our new Discussion category, which is kind of a continuation of our old “Dr. Lee’s Talking Point” articles. Although we have discussed the pros and cons of tattoos many times before, one thing we haven’t discussed—and what is actually of most interest to me—is how and why have they suddenly become so popular? It seems that almost every new Asian American model has tattoos these days, and it’s rapidly becoming more commonplace amongst models from Asia itself too (especially Chinese). What’s more, the amount of tattoo coverage has radically increased too, seemingly overnight. And it isn’t just Asians either—it seems almost every other young person I see these days has them, and once again the amount of tattoo coverage seems to be increasing all the time. It’s as if young people are engaged in a kind of tattoos “arms race”. I’m reminded of King Missile’s brilliant song It’s Saturday—young people ‘rebelling’ and ‘asserting their individuality’, by doing exactly the same thing as most other people their age. Perhaps tattoos are the new cigarettes (that’s how young people tried to do these things when I was growing up). Does anybody know how and why this current tattoo craze happened?
