Be forewarned: the danger of bleaching your ass in Thailand.

This poor woman, Nitthakarn Nunthasuteepat, a 25-year-old model and mom, made a video of herself last March demonstrating how a cream she peddled turned her buttocks “a beautiful pale color”. She was then arrested by the police under consumer protection laws, for mislabeling her product. She could face up to a year in prison and 100,000 baht fine, or both—and they haven’t even considered her vaginal tightening soaps and face whitening masks. The Thai consumer protection agency said the product’s container had insufficient details and could be misleading. The head of the agency said her video could be classed as pornography, which is probably what the rub really is. Nitthakarn is currently out on bail while the Thai FDA investigates her products.

As an aside, all this comes shortly after a hospital in Bangkok caused an uproar—which may have increased the focus on such things—for its penis whitening service. Remember the words the late Curtis Mayfield sang: “just be thankful… for what you got…”.
