Nosheen Phoenix is an actress living in the US who grew up in London, with parents of a Pakistani background.
And if that seems complicated, her path into acting is similarly jam-packed, having been a model, a member of pop band DeVoteD, and doing some song writing. All done with a family that didn’t really support a move into the entertainment industry.
Nosheen moved to New York in 2009 and then to L.A. in 2012, as acting became her focus. It’s a move that appears to have worked, with parts in Modern Family, Mike & Molly, Happy Endings, Grey’s Anatomy, and currently playing Nayyara on HBO’s brand new show The Brink. She seems to have captured the public’s attention if Playboy is any reflection. I’m sure there’s a lot more to come.

she’s gorgeous but does she actually qualify as ‘Asian’ in the sense that we appreciate on this site?
I know some would qualify Indians and Pakistanis as Asian based on technicality (geography, etc.), but I’m not certain even those groups would categorize themselves as asian.
Not nitpicking but just curious

If you think about it, Russia has areas that pretty much are actually Asian. Right up to the northern border of Japan, Korea and China even.

We’ve been through this a few times before—the short answer is ‘yes’.
FYI, people from the Indian subcontinent are what is referred to as Asian in the UK—they refer to the people you call Asian as ‘oriental’.
