Japanese signer Gille, used to perform under name Tasha Gee, and her real name is Toshiko Arita (有田利子). Good info here. She’s really pretty, nice body, and I think a great voice– and a smooth but polished R&B style. First saw her with her “silhouette” videos of covers she did on Youtube, a “Party Rock” cover that added an interesting element of Japanese polish to it. Other covers are similar. So it turns out her first go at it as Tasha Gee didn’t produce results, so they tried again by showing off her voice (and I think, body–they’re a nice tease) in the silhouette covers, which generated the desired buzz and curiosity, leading into some subsequent success after disclosing who she is.
