Ally Maki Does 2 Broke Girls

Among the many roles Japanese-American actress Ally Maki has played on TV sitcoms, a couple of the more notable ones were actually Korean. She played North Korean spy Joyce Kim in a flashback episode of The Big Bang Theory, in which she was was sleeping with one of the main characters, only in order to obtain classified information on the rocket fuel he was working on. More recently (and notably), was her performance on 2 Broke Girls as exotic dancer/hooker June “Sapphire” Kim, whom Max and Caroline (played by Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs) hired to pose as their boss’ girlfriend. The above scene from the episode, in which the ladies propose the deal to June, implies that both Max and Caroline may have been thinking of having Sapphire becoming their girlfriend instead.

2 Broke Girls, like Two and a Half Men before it, and The Big Bang Theory to a lesser extent, really do push the boundaries in terms of sexual innuendo. Times have changed since growing up watching episodes of Gilligan’s Island and The Brady Bunch :-)

I haven’t seen that episode of 2 Broke Girls. Thanks for the laugh!

For me that one went a little too far I didn’t need to see that black-light experience.

Glad to see an Asian not doing the fake “Fresh off the Boat Asian accent” and acting in a role that isn’t Asian-specific.

On the other hand, a writer got paid to come up with that garbage?! Paid money?! Real money? Someone actually pays them legal currency for that writing?

    French,

You think the writing was bad? You should watch some Australian TV sitcoms some time. Mmm, I’m trying to think of some…

OMG. She is super cute. Love the cheek bones and the hand gestures. Reminds me of my ex.

I saw an episode of Hey Dad recently. How the heck was that so popular once? Skippy the Bush Kangaroo however will always be a true classic. Great actor he was.

I agree with French re the quality of that and indeed any recent american sitcom.

Regarding Ally Maki …… I was going to say “nah…. not from i’ve just seen”.

And then i saw her photos. Actually she is a little cutie…..

She is a big thing in a small package, she would keep my rocket fueled.

See, I can’t be trusted. If Ally Maki spoke with an Aussie accent, I would be writing that this is the greatest show with the greatest writers.

    I am weak like that.

    Don’t judge me.

    French,

I completely agree and this is an example of a very bad portrayal of broken english

    Solid base hit.

    Luke,
I suspect reaching consensus on what is a good example of quality Australian television would prove as challenging as, well, assessing the beauty of Asian models :-) I think the series “The Hollowmen” would be my nomination for fine Australian comedy.

I like how she plays the bad girl in all these sitcoms. Now I’m thinking I need more bad girls in my life.
