Rina Akiyama for the Holidays

In the spirit of Christmas, here's gravure idol-turned-actress Rina Akiyama managing to unwrap her sweater underneath the Christmas tree. The 26 year-old, 163cm Rina has built up quite an impressive resume since 2001. Her list of acting credits include several appearances in the popular Japanese Kamen Rider series and she was named (although it's unclear by whom) 2007's "Best Butt in Japan," which earned her the nickname "Oshirina." (A combination of the Japanese word for "butt" and her name.) Her gallery at Red Flava will provide proof of why she was worthy of the title. Her blog and agency profile are in Japanese but Google Translate is a good friend. Happy Holidays!

Asian Bond Girls

Michelle Yeoh

If you're an avid fan of James Bond movies, then you know what the qualifications are to be dubbed a "Bond Girl." If you need a definition, I'll paraphrase this one given by Robert Caplen, from his book Shaken & Stirred: The Feminism of James Bond:
A Bond girl is a character or actress portraying a love or sex interest, of James Bond in a film or novel. These ladies occasionally have names that are double entendres or puns, such as "Pussy Galore", "Plenty O'Toole", "Xenia Onatopp", or "Holly Goodhead." Bond girls are considered ubiquitous symbol of glamour and sophistication.
Bearing that in mind, we know that not every lady who has appeared in a Bond film meets the criteria for being a Bond Girl, and there are only three Asian ladies that do. One being veteran Hong Kong action starlet, Michelle Yeoh (pictured above) who played "Wai Lin" in 1997's Tomorrow Never Dies. More...

Alien Bikini Girl, Ha Eun-jung

Ha Eun-jung

I've only seen clips so far, but if I were to write a review of the recently released Korean comedy-sci-fi movie Invasion of Alien Bikini, the focus of the review would most likely be on star Ha Eun-jung, the stills I would include would all be of star Ha Eun-jung, and the main reason I would give for seeing the movie would probably be because Ha Eun-jung stars in it. Therefore, this entry should just be on Ha Eun-jung and not her new movie. More...

Asian Women in Prison Movies

Female Prisoner: Caged! (1983)

Arguably the most popular sub-genre of exploitation films, women in prison movies (regardless of where they were made) generally have three main elements, which are; sadistic guards, sadistic inmates, and at least one innocent new convict who was unjustly convicted and is now confronted with the first two aforementioned elements.

The majority of Asian WIP ("Women-In-Prison" for those not yet with the program) movies come from Hong Kong and Japan. I've caught a few notable ones from other Asian countries, such as Taiwan and Thailand, but not really from South Korea, which is disappointing considering the lovely talent pool they have always had there.

Above is Mina Asami gracing the video box cover of the 1983 film Female Prisoner: Caged! from Japan's Nikkatsu Studios. As covered in this entry, Nikkatsu was the leading producer of pink films during the "roman" porn era. More...

Debra Lamb

Debra Lamb - Beverly Hills Vamp

I first caught actress Debra Lamb on video in a little-known gem entitled The Stripping Telegram: Special Delivery, which was shot in Hollywood in the mid-80s. In it, she played a pizza delivery girl who forgot the pizza but more than made up for it with a sizzling routine that showed she had formal dance training. Her exotic looks were familiar to me and I was sure I'd seen her somewhere before, so I did a little digging and found her featured in the June 1987 issue of Easyriders magazine I had in my collection.

Wanting to learn more about such a striking girl, starting with her last name, I checked magazines stands, book and video stores (these were the pre-Internet days) and found her featured in a now-defunct publication entitled Focus, which included her bio and list of acting credits. That was in 1994 and she has since been among my favorite B-movie actresses. The above photo of her as Jessica from the 1989 B-movie classic Beverly Hills Vamp should save me from having to explain why. More...

The Ladies of Space Battleship Yamato

Meisa Kuroki as Yuki Mori

As requested by a reader, here are the female cast members of the 2010 Japanese sci-fi film, Space Battleship Yamato, which could be considered a more action-packed Japanese version of American space sci-fi films like Star Trek or Battlestar Galactica. (The latter I've sat through only because Grace Park was in the cast.)

Since this movie was spawned by the TV anime series that debuted in 1974, I decided to do a little research on the series first. When I did, I discovered there was only one notable female character in it, so I thought this would wind up as a feature on just the actress in the role of "Black Tiger Team" member, Yuki Mori (Meisa Kuroki, above). However, I was pleased to find out that the most notable departure the film took from the TV series was that two male key characters in the series, are female in the movie. More...

Yukie Nakama

Yukie is someone that I knew about from when I first started collecting photos, but I never took a moment to find out more about her until I started writing this article. One of our readers by the name of Terry suggested that we feature Yukie, so hit the break to find out more about this stunning beauty.

Joe Chen

Joe Chen Qiao-En is a singer and actress in Taiwan. Apparently she used to be shy about her body because she believed her breasts were too big. Aww. Poor Joe.

Stephy Tang

Stephy Tang is a Hong Kong singer and actress. For a while it was believed she was found in one of the Edison Chen videos, but then that ended up being debunked and it was instead some Japanese model that looks nothing like her. Good job, internet.

Ayame Misaki

Ayame Misaki started as a gravure idol before becoming an actress. So the likelihood you are going to see any more revealing photos than these is slim. I don't know what area of Japan she is from, but she definitely does not look like she is from Tokyo.
