Gwen Wong

Playboy Playmate of the Month 1967, Gwen Wong probably turned a whole generation of boys onto Asian women.

Gwen is of mixed Chinese, Scottish, Irish, Spanish, Australian, and Filipino descent. She was born in Manila and ended up in the US when she was 7. I guess “Gwen Lipscomb” didn’t sound exotic enough back in the day, so “Gwen Wong” was born. In addition to being PotM back in ’67, Gwen appeared in layouts several more times. She also appeared in a low budget horror picture, 1969′s The Witchmaker, her only acting credit (she appears at 1:15:55—no lines and no use of her assets). Gwen has worked as an artist for decades now, specializing in body casting. I think Gwen was super sexy but the thing that has to stand out is… the hair!

    About 15 years ago I was in some store where they were buying up complete editions of all the old Playboy magazines- issue #2 to whatever the current one was….Crazy prices- some wanted $1,000 or so for the whole set.

    I came across an Asian model (it may have been Gwen here, I don’t remember) and was going to buy the issue for $20 (yes, $20) but then some other customer told me about a website where all the Playmates were on, so I checked that out instead.

    To me, Playboy would have done a lot better if they regularly featured beautiful women like Gwen, rather than the cookie-cutter blondes whom I could not tell apart if they were standing next to one another.

    Gawd! Yeah, I remember Gwen! Had a crush on her for the longest time!
    I found that old Playboy issue at a Flea Market and had to buy it! 8) :)
    She hasn’t aged all that well, to be honest, but she’s kinda still “got it”.
