The Chinese State Circus is an act that aims to bring highly skilled Chinese performers to the world. They bring together acrobatic and martial arts skills in a way that is breathtaking and beautiful.
Chinese acrobatics have been around for more than 2000 years. During the Quin and Han Dynasties (221 B.C. – 220 A.D.) acrobatic artistes developed a wide repertoire, and reached a high level as a performing art in the Han Dynasty (thanks Wikipedia). The circus has proven to be a great cultural exchange between the east and the West, and IMHO no one does it better than the Chinese. Hmmm. No comments as yet. OK let me be the first to stick the boot in and I do apologise for being mean and grumpy before I start. I have been to see this absolute calamity of a show in the UK a couple of winters ago. There is nothing honest or earnest about it. It is chinoiserie of the worst kind. It’s like a watered down version of Chinese culture for mass western consumption. In other words…. every single stereotype you can think of is present. The Chinese person, who was part of our group, agreed in no uncertain terms. I really don’t recommend it. Apologies for any offence caused but it is an honest opinion.

I thought The Amazing Yen was cool.

I should probably admit that I can’t stand fun fairs or the circus in general.
