I’m sure some of the regular readers will remember Jasmine Tai from Candyman’s post back on the old site. I’ve just found out Jasmine resides in Australia, why didn’t someone tell me this sooner?!?
So what has Australia’s greatest Thai model been up to that warrants a new post?

The Thai girls particularly seem to wind up with several names. I think it could be from spelling and people going with their own phonetic version which differs between photographers, also it seems all Thai’s use a nickname rather than their birth name.
In my experience there is a very strong Chinese influence and a lot of pride in that heritage. I think the same can be seen in the love of Irish heritage in some people in Australia (again just in my experience) or wider British heritage which enables people to obtain a British passport or travel concessions.
I know my wife’s family, that had a Chinese grandfather, speak a Chinese dialect and practice a Chinese religion. The Grandfather is buried in a Chinese cemetery and they visit it annually in what is a pretty big production. I like the fact they are proud of their heritage and continue that link even though it seems a bit tenuous. Some of them look a bit Chinese others more Thai BTW.
