Vanilla Mood
Instrumental quartet Vanilla Mood first came together in 2003 and quickly achieved success because they have talent to match their looks. They're known for covering songs from many different genres with their own unique arrangements. They particularly do justice to some classic American pop songs, that comprise a good part of their repertoire.
Above is the original line-up doing their version of "Tequila." They are; Emilee (violin), Yui (violin), Mariko (cello), and Keiko (piano). In early 2005, Emilee left the group and was replaced by flutist Waka, rather than another violinist. (See a later performance with Waka after the jump.) Waka left the group in late 2010 and it now appears the remaining three ladies are continuing on as a trio. More...

Asian Lady Rockers
There seems to be a plethora of Asian all-girl vocal groups where the girls just sing (or lip-sync) while doing choreographed dance routines during performances. However, there aren't as many Asian all-girl bands, where the members are performing the music as well as the vocals. Many of these bands are considered underground, because their music is usually harder and not compatible with the sound of the more "bubble gum" girl groups that are so popular throughout Asia.
Even though Asian all-girl rock bands haven't enjoyed as much widespread media exposure in their countries that their pop counterparts have, some have earned international fanbases. The prime example above is Scandal; four hot female rockers from Osaka, performing "Shunkan Sentimental." They are; Haruna Ono (vocals, guitar), Mami Sasazaki (guitar, vocals), Tomomi Ogawa (bass, vocals), and Rina Suzuki (drums, vocals). You won't find these ladies on the same bill with Morning Musume. Applegirl: Talented, Original and Beautiful
As an admirer of both beautiful Asian women and talented musicians and singers, I just had to feature this girl. She has the most popular new channel on YouTube I've ever seen - the first of her two videos went up less than three weeks ago, and she's already had over two million views and more than 12,000 subscribers. And it's no wonder: she's really cute, she's a very competent singer, and most impressively of all, she performs a full band's worth of instruments on a set of iPhones! It's really quite extraordinary to watch how she programs the backing tracks and plays the lead instrumental lines as she sings. And the way she says "listen" and "thankyou" are just so darn cute! Asami Abe and Natsuko Sone
If you have been following Asian Sirens for a while, you will no doubt recognize Ami Tokito on the right. She is part of a music group called Gyaruru, and I thought it would be fun to look at the two other current members of Gyaruru, Asami Abe (left) and Natsuko (Gal) Sone (middle).
