Rosalind Chao

After featuring her Joy Luck Club co-star Ming-Na Wen - as well as fellow Star Trek babe Linda Park - I thought it only fair that we should also do a post on Chinese actress Rosalind Chao. Okay, so maybe she isn't as sexy as Linda, but for my money she's prettier than Ming-Na, and looks amazing considering she's pushing 50! Despite her long and distinguished acting career, the above pic was the only decent sized one I could find, and there don't seem to be any fan sites devoted to her either.

Perhaps best known for her recurring guest role as Keiko O'Brien in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, her acting career actually stretches all the way back to 1970, when she appeared in an episode of I Love Lucy. Since then, she has made nearly a hundred(!) notable TV appearances, and has starred in 44 films. Come on, surely it must be worthwhile for somebody to do a fan site on her! Here's a Wikipedia entry on her anyway.

I didn't remember her name but I believe Rosalind Chao is the actress I saw a number of times with her family (husband, wife, and children). Interestingly, it only mentions she has a son in wikipedia and other sources but I always see her with a boy and girl. I wonder how recently that photo was taken because she looks quite young in it.

THIS is Keiko?! I watched Star Trek TNG and DS9, and never thought Keiko was very pretty... but on this (ancient?) photo she looks nice though...

I don't think the photo is that old, but it is flattering. Still, I think she's prettier than Ming-Na Wen, even if she isn't very pretty by Asian standards.

Let's just watch out that this site doesn't become 'Ancient-Sirens' ;-)

I think 'ancient sirens' should be applauded at every opportunity - it's easy to look pretty when you're 18, but it's quite an achievement when you're 48!

Well, that can be, but I doubt if our visitors come here to see middle-aged Asian ladies... Time for another spin-off maybe? ;-)

not that she acted in such fluff like ST only :-) there's one serious movie i recommend - her 1991 "1000 pieces of gold".

Once again, I reckon she's prettier than Ming-Na, so how can we feature her without featuring her prettier co-star? Not fair. ;-)

Big fan of this able honey, mainly because of her long running work with our own Colm Meaney as Keiko O'Brien. They made a brilliant couple and family with kids and all! But her real shining moment was in an episode of Tour Of Duty called 'The Gray Brown Odyssey' where she played a young Vietnamese prisoner who hates Americans and the devestation the soldiers brought to her country.
