So here’s a reader question:

Aaron is looking for the name of this Asian model that he found at a stockphoto site.

Now we all know that there are a lot of beauties on those sites, but never with a name... So who can help him find this girl? :-)

Posted by: DariusII on Feb 28, 08 | 9:37 pm

Are there specific guidelines for getting a model ID request posted?

Posted by: Curtis G. on Feb 28, 08 | 10:47 pm

yea, you gotta be HOT! :)

Posted by: DariusII on Feb 29, 08 | 12:56 am

That would be the lovely "Mrs. Malpaso." ;)

Posted by: malpaso on Feb 29, 08 | 1:31 am

I don't know who she is, but damn, what a beauty! Someone ID so I can find and merry her.

Posted by: GoodTaste on Feb 29, 08 | 1:32 am

I suspect it's a flattering photo (she may not look as great from other angles etc.), but she's still definitely a cutie!

To answer Curtis G.'s question, just send us a message (either to Robin or the "Contact Asian Sirens" link), and we'll see what we can do!

this one may be too hard. stock photos sometimes are taken of people who aren't professional models or are mere commercial models - part of the point of stock photos is to not incorporate any famous people or could-be celebrities. i actually once saw a casting call for stock photos in a local newspaper, so you may be just out of luck with this girl

Posted by: christine on Feb 29, 08 | 6:17 am

Yeah, Christine could definitely be right.

Is it just me, or is this girl a little cross-eyed? I don't know why, but I often find slightly cross-eyed Asian girls quite cute!

Posted by: Dr. Lee on Feb 29, 08 | 10:12 am

LOL Lawboy. She's not cross-eyed, she's just zeroing in on a certain male appendage! (Hope that doesn't violate the blog guidelines.)

Posted by: Wingsfan19 on Feb 29, 08 | 10:42 am

no idea, perhaps a freelance model

Posted by: mitosblog on Feb 29, 08 | 10:59 am

Well, I'm trying to not be envious, or snarky, but my requests and suggestions tend to disappear down an Internet black hole.

I'll go cry myself to sleep now. ;)

Posted by: Curtis G. on Feb 29, 08 | 1:35 pm

If you contact Robin he should be able to get around to them eventually. :-)

Posted by: Dr. Lee on Feb 29, 08 | 1:38 pm

She looks Singaporean... don't ask why, just a gut feel...

Posted by: ozzie on Feb 29, 08 | 2:52 pm

All tips I receive go into a mail folder. It's getting quite full :-) I look in this folder often and pick the tips I like most...
So either I've not gotten around to them, or didn't like the models... :-|

Key to model success, is symmetrical features. This woman, as beautiful as she is, has an asymmetrical face.I think the light and re-touch hurts that rather than helps.

Posted by: Marcinema on Mar 01, 08 | 6:39 am

she does have an asymmetrical face, but there have been plenty of asymmetrical faced successful models, i'm sure. symmetry is sometimes sufficient for beauty, but not necessary.

Posted by: christine on Mar 01, 08 | 6:41 am

Actually, some asymmetry often makes a face look more interesting, and many very successful models are this way.

Posted by: Dr. Lee on Mar 01, 08 | 6:51 am

Bilateral facial symmetry is actually quite rare, even among much-photographed "famous people" and "beautiful people" - celebs, movie stars, models. I saw an interesting student project several years in which the author had taken frontal photo's of well-known folks, deleted one half and digitally supplied a symmetric second half. She then did a simple "Who is this?" questionaire. Often there was a "Well it sort of looks like..." response, but in many cases, the face simply became unrecognizable!

Posted by: urgal on Mar 01, 08 | 4:48 pm

I guess the key point here is how obvious the asymmetry is; strictly speaking, absolutely nobody has a perfectly symmetrical face (or anything else).

Posted by: Dr. Lee on Mar 01, 08 | 6:22 pm

i totally was thinking about symmetry differently from urgal - i was thinking of vertical symmetry, like the distance from the top of the forehead to the eyebrow, the length of the nose, etc. that's how my hairdresser measures symmetry since it's important for when she styles hair. it seems extremely unsurprising that bilateral symmetry is uncommon, but i think vertical symmetry is a lot more common. for ex., my hairdresser says i have a really symmetric face (vertically) but i don't think that i could ever model LOL

Posted by: christine on Mar 01, 08 | 9:03 pm

Christine: I don't follow. The human face is (approx) symmetric about the vertical axis bisecting the chin & nose. But what is the (apparently horizontal) axis of symmetry that you have in mind? I'm puzzled!

Posted by: urgal on Mar 01, 08 | 10:05 pm

it's actually called harmonism, not symmetry. but sometimes people use the word symmetry to describe balanced facial proportions. here the distances between different facial features are taken into account - there is some symmetry, i think, required...like the distance from your forehead to your nose, then your nose to your eyes (hopefully not different distances for each eye, etc.).

Posted by: christine on Mar 02, 08 | 12:51 am

I was just wondering...what exactly is the singaporean look. I thought it was pretty much a mixture down there with many different looks. Maybe I don't know or something. I think she looks oriental and certainly not island like. Butttt...her harmoniously assymetrical face is quite nice in my unexpert opinion, butttt it'd be better if I could see her naked...or at least wearing some sort of neglige' or thong/g-string. Oooh yeah...that'd be oh so nice. :)
